Collection IDDRG 2025 in MATEC Web of Conferences

MATEC Web of Conferences is delighted to share the proceedings from the 44th Conference of the International Deep Drawing Research Group (IDDRG 2025) held in Lisbon, Portugal, June 1-5, 2025. Published earlier this year, the volume brings together a substantial body of research on sheet metal forming.

The IDDRG was founded in the late 1950s as an organisation of national groups devoted to the study of sheet metal forming, including processes, materials, formability, tooling, tribology, and many other aspects of both research and industrial practice. Over the years, the format of the meetings evolved from closed working groups to fully open international conferences. Since 2003, IDDRG has held annual conferences with proceedings that capture both regular and poster papers, making them widely accessible to the community.

The 2025 conference proceedings bring together 127 peer-reviewed contributions, carefully evaluated and selected by the Guest Editors. The topics reflect the breadth and depth of sheet metal forming research today, including:
  • Material characterisation and formability
  • Deep drawing, stamping, bending and innovative forming processes
  • Simulation, finite element analysis and digital tools
  • Tooling, lubrication and tribology
  • Case studies and industrial applications in automotive, aerospace and related sectors

Professor Paulo Martins, Guest Editor, commented: “It has been a pleasure to work with colleagues and contributors to assemble this collection of high-quality papers. The proceedings reflect both the vitality of the IDDRG community and its ongoing commitment to bridging fundamental research and industrial practice in sheet metal forming.”

The IDDRG continues to serve as the leading international forum in this field, fostering cooperation between academic researchers and industrial practitioners, and helping to address both longstanding and emerging challenges in sheet metal forming.

MATEC Web of Conferences publishes open access proceedings in Materials Science, Engineering and Chemistry. It is part of the Web of Conferences proceedings series, which supports organisations who wish to showcase and archive their conference proceedings, publications and other important resources in an accessible and attractive way.
